Jose
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Jose Perez is an emerging tattoo artist at Painstaking Art Tattoo currently completing his apprenticeship under veteran tattooer Tracy Lambright. Though early in his tattoo career, Jose has spent years developing his artistic eye through a wide range of creative mediums, teaching himself everything from spray paint and illustration to painting and oil work long before stepping into tattooing professionally.
Jose specializes in bold traditional tattooing paired with strong black and grey shading, creating work that feels powerful, timeless, and heavily design-focused. His style often blends custom Aztec-inspired imagery with subtle Japanese influence, resulting in tattoos that are both illustrative and deeply personal. Known for his attention to composition and bold, hard-hitting designs, Jose approaches every piece with creativity and intention.
What drew Jose into tattooing was the idea that art could become something permanent and meaningful — something real. For him, tattooing is more than creating a drawing; it’s creating artwork that becomes part of someone’s life forever. That mindset continues to shape the way he works with clients and approaches every tattoo.
Jose has already had the opportunity to tattoo at the 50th Anniversary Tattooing Convention, but he considers his greatest accomplishment to be earning the opportunity to apprentice and work alongside artists he respects deeply. Being able to live out a dream he once thought was impossible continues to fuel his passion for tattooing every day.
Jose is especially interested in working with clients who trust the creative process and are looking for bold, custom tattoos built around strong design and individuality.
