Claudio Damian Basso
Tattoo Artist | Micro Realism • Black & Grey • Fine Line • Blackwork
Originally from Patagonia, Argentina, Claudio Damian Basso brings a decade of tattooing experience, international perspective, and a deep appreciation for the art of storytelling to Painstaking Art Tattoo & Piercing in Houston’s East End.
A self-taught artist and former tattoo studio owner, Claudio has spent the past 10 years developing his craft through dedication, experimentation, and continuous artistic growth. His journey has been shaped by a belief that tattoos are more than images on the skin, they are personal expressions of identity, experience, and the stories that make each individual unique.
Specializing in micro realism, black-and-grey tattoos, fine line, and blackwork, Claudio creates detailed, thoughtful designs that balance technical precision with artistic expression. His favorite subjects include the human form, animals, skulls, religious imagery, and Stoic-inspired themes. Whether working on a delicate fine-line tattoo or an intricate black-and-grey composition, Claudio approaches every piece with care and intention.
His dedication to the craft has earned him recognition beyond the studio, including winning Best Open Style of the Day at the Bahía Blanca Tattoo Convention in Argentina.
For Claudio, one of the most rewarding parts of tattooing is the human connection. He believes the tattooing process creates opportunities to build meaningful relationships, and many of his clients have become lifelong friends. His approach is personal, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that every tattoo should reflect the individual wearing it.
Outside of tattooing, Claudio enjoys restoring vintage pickup trucks and exploring oil painting. In fact, his journey to the United States was partially funded by selling a pickup truck he had personally restored, a reflection of the determination and creativity that have defined his artistic career.
Now tattooing in Houston, Texas, at Painstaking Art Tattoo & Piercing, Claudio brings his international experience and distinctive artistic perspective to clients seeking custom tattoos with lasting meaning.
